Alice J. Goforth, 90, of Miami passed away at her home on Sunday, July 30, 2017. Alice was born June 9, 1927 in Canton, Okla.; her parents were Albert and Elizabeth (Murphy) Rieck. She attended Longdale School and later attended Southwest University in Weatherford, Okla. Alice Married Duane Goforth on June 10, 1948 in Weatherford. They moved to Miami in 1964. They were owners of Dawson’s Jewelry Store in Miami until 1986. Alice was a seamstress. She also loved to make candied pickles, peanut butter rolls and apple butter. Family gatherings will never be the same without her homemade chicken and noodles and mashed potatoes. Alice is preceded in passing by her love of fifty-eight years Duane Goforth, her parents Albert and Elizabeth Rieck and three brothers.

Survivors include her two sons Dick Goforth and his wife Nancy of Miami and Charles Goforth of Tulsa, two granddaughters Kelsey Acuna and husband Jeffrey of El Paso, Texas and Holly Goforth of Pittsburg, Kan., two great granddaughters Makenzie Young and Kaylee Acuna of El Paso.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami with Mr. Danny Dillon officiating. The family will greet family and friends after the service with a time of visitation. Interment will follow privately at the Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
