Vonda Gayle Wakefield, 76, of Miami, Okla., passed away early Thursday morning, July 20, 2017 at Freeman West in Joplin after a long illness, surrounded by her family. She was born in Picher, Okla. on July 15, 1941 to Fred Reynolds and Geneva (Lavell) Reynolds. She was a graduate of Miami High School.

Vonda worked at the Coleman Theater in her earlier years. She also worked for Montgomery Ward and was co-owner of Wakefield Trucking Company. She loved ceramics, gardening, and most of all, her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Billy and Mike Reynolds.

Those surviving to mourn her loss include two sons, Brad Williams and wife Tiffany of Miami, and Greg Williams and wife Latricia of Catoosa, Okla.; one sister, Shirley Tiger and husband John of Wills Point, Texas; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2017 at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Commerce. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 24, 2017 at GAR Cemetery in Miami. Leon Weece will officiate.

Casket bearers will be Skylar, Bryson, and Kolin Williams, Candace Bible, Olivia Murphree, and Josh Bible. Honorary casket bearer will be Michael Murphree.
