David M Stark
May 9, 1927 to July 18, 2017
Our Daddy, Papa and friend left this earth on July 18, 2017 to be with his beloved wife Marilyn. He was surrounded by the love of his family who cared for him following a fall in his home. He will be so very missed.
David was born on May 9, 1927 to Richard E. Stark and Clara Elizabeth Malloch Stark of Strathmore, Calif. He attended college at UCLA where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity and graduated with a degree in subtropical horticulture. He married our mother, Marilyn Miller, on July 15, 1949 and they moved to Lindsay, Calif. He worked alongside his father and brother in the family orange packing business. Together they raised four children and were very involved in all their activities.
Dad had a love of cattle, horses and border collies. He started a cattle ranch in the foothills of California. In 1970, he moved his cattle and family to Miami, Okla. and established the SS Black Angus Cattle Ranch. He ran his cow calf operation, from sun up to sun down, until he retired in 1999 at age 72.
David was a big man with a big heart, but there was only one way to do things and that was David’s way, thus his nickname “one way”. He loved to make people laugh by poking fun at the silly mistakes they made and always had a story to tell you. He had a way of helping people through his wisdom. He was a smoke master and kept his family well fed with smoked ribs and steaks. He always looked forward to his annual trip to the rodeo with his cowboy friends.
He leaves behind his four children, Richard Stark (Marlyn), Laurel Stark Wilson (James), Leslie Stark Vail (Stephen), Trudy Stark Emery (Brent). His grandchildren Amber Stark Rollerson (Marc), Revel Stark (Melissa), David Wilson (Meaghan), Jane Wilson, Alex Wilson (Allison), Levi Vail, Lauren Vail, Clara Emery, and Jackson Emery. His great grandchildren Isabella Rollerson, Siena Stark and Beau Stark.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marilyn, infant son David Michael, and his brother, Richard Eugene Stark Jr.
The family would like to acknowledge the special care provided by Daddy’s “Maria,” Hortensia Holman, and Sacred Rose Healthcare.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the family home, 11650 S 540 Road, Miami, Okla., Saturday July 22, 2017 at 2 p.m. Friends may contribute to the First Presbyterian Church in Miami, Okla. or the charity of your choice.
