Rose Marie Wilhoit was born in Ponca City, Okla. March 9, 1928. She passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 in Grove, she was eighty-nine. The daughter of Morgan and Pansy Putnam, she graduated from Enid High School in Enid, Okla. She married J.D. Wilhoit Jr. in 1949 and moved to Stillwater, Okla. She worked at J.C. Penney in Enid then transferred to Stillwater. A move back to Enid was fruitful, a son and daughter were born in Enid. Moving to Miami, Okla. in 1960 Rose Marie accepted employment with Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, retiring in 1988. She was active in PEO, NEO Faculty Wives, Gospel Gals, FCC Missions and First Christian Church in Enid, Miami and Grove. After retirement many years of travel followed, with twenty plus years of winters in their resort home in Harlingen, Texas. Rose Marie was preceded in passing by her love of 68 years Dr. J.D. Wilhoit, her parents Morgan and Pansy Putnam, a sister Helen Colley and a brother Don Putnam.
Rose Marie leaves her legacy to her children John Douglas Wilhoit III of Miami and Terry Lynn Cash and her husband Ron of Grove, her grandchildren Jared Douglas Cash and his wife Kimmie, of Grove, Jordan Dale Cash and his wife Jessica of Oklahoma City along with her great grandchildren Rylie Marie Cash, Aaliyah Catherine Cash, Norah Ellise Cash and Miriam Rose Cash also surviving is her brother Wes Putnam.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 13, 2017 at the First Christian Church in Grove from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.
There will be a Celebration of Life 10 a.m., Friday, July 14, 2017 at First Christian Church with Pastor Ron Riley officiating. Interment will follow at New Olympus Cemetery in Grove under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami.
