The sixth annual Commerce Days Festival kicks off Thursday, July 6, and runs through Saturday, July 8 at Sill Park, located behind the Tiger Stop.

COMMERCE— The celebration continues at Commerce.

On the heels of its Fourth of July fireworks and Independence Day parade, the sixth annual Commerce Days Festival kicks off Thursday, July 6, and runs through Saturday, July 8 at Sill Park, located behind the Tiger Stop.

Activities run from 5 to 11 p.m. nightly.

A variety of activities for adults and children are planned, including carnival rides, arts and crafts, food vendors, live music, turtle and frog races and a scavenger hunt.

Additional music will be provided by The Diversity Band (Thursday, 7 to 11 p.m.), Band DeLorean (Friday, 7 to 11 p.m.) and Big Smitty (Saturday, 7 p.m. to midnight).

Great Plains Amusements will again provide carnival rides each evening from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

A presale wristband, which allows unlimited rides, can be purchased for $20 through Thursday, July 6. After that, the price increases to $25.

Wristbands can be used from 6 to 10 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday.

A karaoke contest will be held Friday. Registration begins at 5 p.m. with competition at 5:15 p.m. There is a $10 entry fee per contestant.

Commemorative cups can be purchased for $3 at the Tiger Stop, Lil Cafe and Dairy King.

They allow unlimited 50-cent refills at those three locations as well as the 4H concession trailer.

Events for children 12 and under will be Saturday morning: water frog races, 9:30 a.m.; toad frog races, 11 a.m., and land turtle races, noon. Contestants will be divided into age groups.

There will be a needle in the haystack contest at 12:30 p.m.

A treasure hunt, with clues posted every 10 minutes, will begin at 1 p.m.

The grand prize will be an in-ground tornado shelter from Midwest Storm Shelters of Neosho, Missouri.

Tickets for the shelter and other prizes are $1 each or six for $5 and can be purchased at Tiger Stop, Commerce City Hall and Lil Cafe.

Those who purchase tickets also will be eligible to win a 55-inch LED 4K UHDTV, laptop, iPad, barbecue grill, deep freeze and several other items.

Winners will be announced at 10 p.m. Saturday.
