MIAMI – An Ottawa County Sheriff's Deputy took a hit in a two-vehicle crash around 5 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 10 east of Miami.
According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Brian McSlarrow who responded to the call, Ottawa County Sheriff Deputy Ray Harvey's patrol vehicle was struck by a 1999 Oldsmobile driven by Heather Dagnett, 42, of Miami.
Dagnett was eastbound possibly trying to make a turn into Neece Concrete Construction's drive entry and went left of center striking Harvey's patrol vehicle in the front driver's side, according to McSlarrow.
“It looked like she was kind of hunting for the driveway,” McSlarrow said.
Both Dagnett and Deputy Harvey were transported to Mercy Hospital in Joplin and were treated and released.
There were no passengers in either vehicle, seat belts were in use by both drivers and airbags deployed.
Both vehicles were heavily damaged by the impact, according to McSlarrow.
