Deputies were dispatched to a rural Fairland residence in reference to a domestic disturbance involving a gunshot wound.

MIAMI –The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office has issued a statement regarding a domestic disturbance shooting.

According to a statement from Sheriff Jeremey Floyd at approximately 6:36 p.m. on Dec. 17 deputies Justin Keller and Jesse Krewson were dispatched to a rural Fairland residence in reference to a domestic disturbance involving a gunshot wound.

“Once the scene was secure and determines safe, EMS responded from a staged location, rendered aid and transported one adult male with a gunshot wound to the abdomen to Freeman Hospital,” Floyd said.

Chief Detective Holli Goforth and Detective Mike Mullin and Deputy Justin Keller are conducting an ongoing investigation into this incident.

The victim is currently in critical condition and authorities are awaiting statements on his behalf to continue the inquiry, according to Floyd.

“Due to ongoing investigations all parties' names will be withheld until a warrant and or arrest is made,” Floyd said.
