BERNICE– A 20-year-old Afton man, Nickolas P. Conner, was injured in a one vehicle accident on Dec. 27.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Preston Koneman's report, a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Conner was northbound on U.S. Highway 60 when he ran off the left side of the road.
The crash occurred at 3:06 p.m. on Dec. 27 one mile north and three miles east of Bernice in Delaware County.
After leaving the roadway, Conner's vehicle struck an auger and then a culvert and overturned three quarters time coming to rest on the passenger side.
Conner was transported by Mercy Ambulance to Freeman Hospital in Joplin with leg, back, internal trunk and head injuries and he was admitted in stable condition.
The Trooper investigating the collision said the condition of roadway was dry and the weather was clear. The driver's condition was sleepy, and the cause of the collision listed as inattention. A seatbelt was in use by Conner.
Koneman was assisted by Trooper Jeff Laue and Mercy Ambulance.
