MIAMI — Miami Public School choral groups and bands will fill the Coleman Theatre with holiday music over the next two weeks with performances.
The Miami High School Christmas Choir Concert will be at 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5.
The Will Rogers Middle school concert will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6.
Elementary schools take the stage the following week:
• Nichols Upper Elementary, 6:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 12;
• Washington Elementary, 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13, 5:30 p.m., and
• Wilson Elementary, 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13.
The MHS and WRMS Christmas Band Concert will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15.
The Honor Choir, Jazzdogs, Women’s Choir and Freshman Mixed Choir will be featured in the MHS choir concert.
The Jazzdogs will perform “Don’t Be a Jerk! It’s Christmas” and “Jamaican Noel” while the Combined Freshman Mixed Choirs will present “My Favorite Things.”
The Advanced Treble Choir will perform the holiday classic “Santa Baby”.
“Breach of Honor” will be performed by the Combined Advanced Women and the Honor Choir will perform “Calypso Carol.”
One of the late Mel Torme’s signature tunes — “The Christmas Song” — will be part of a Sing-Along.
The concert will conclude with the combined MHS Choirs performing “Carol of the Bells.”
Jason Scott Vawter is the conductor and Brett and Bryce Mayfield the accompanists.
The Sixth Grade Select Choir and Jazz Choir will be featured at the WRMS concert.
The sixth grade choir will perform a Jolly, Jingling Carol Medley (“Here We Come A-Caroling,” “Jingle Bells,” “Deck the Halls” “Jolly Old Saint Nicholas,” “Up On the Housetop” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”), “Christmas Wishes,” “A La Media Noche,” “On a Night Long Ago” and “Sing With the Angels.”
The WRMS Jazz Choir will be featured in “Angels We Have Heard On High,” “What Child Is This?,” “The First Noel,” “Silent Night,” “Carol of the Bells” and “Underneath the Tree.”
