It's time for the 93rd Ottawa County Fair that will begin August 18 and run through August 25. Many county residents showed up Tuesday night to clean barns, put up livestock pens, and get exhibit areas ready.
At Monday night's Fair Board meeting President Jeff Reynolds said numbers are good in the amount of entries coming in so far and are comparable to last year's.
The Ottawa County Fair Board is comprised of Reynolds, Mark Merit, Scott Perry, Tammy Rogers, Shauntel Evans, Tammy Rogers, George Hubbard, David Reynolds, Harrell Post, and Seth McCormick.
Rogers spoke of the new 4-H concessions trailer that would be at the fair with proceeds from sales profits going to the Ottawa County 4-H program.
The Premium Sale dinner is being sponsored by Joplin Legacy Farm & Lawn.
The Fair board voted to purchase 6 water cooler fans for $1,350 each for the fair.
The board said the entertainment is ready to go with the band Live Wire, another band that plays bluegrass, a Demolition Derby, Ranch Rodeo, ATV Rodeo, Horse Pull, Tractor Show and Carnival.
4-H members, parents, Fair Board members, and many county residents showed up at the Fair Grounds Tuesday helping and working long volunteer hours together shoveling, cleaning, hammering and putting together pens and exhibit stands in preparation.
