Clean Community ceremony June 24

The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) will recognize the Wyandotte Nation during a Clean Community ceremony at 1:30 p.m., June 24, at the Bearskin Healthcare and Wellness Center, 1 Turtle Drive, Wyandotte.

ODEQ officials will be on hand to present a certificate of recognition to Wyandotte Nation Second Chief Norman Hildebrand, Jr. and provide an overview of the Clean Community project.

Wyandotte Nation fireworks July 3

The Wyandotte Nation will host an Independence Day celebration with live music and fireworks display July 3 at the Wyandotte Nation Pow-Wow Grounds, 5.2 miles east of Wyandotte on Hwy 60.

Food vendors will be on site. Personal coolers are allowed, but no alcohol, firearms or personal fireworks are permitted. Parking will be free and security will be on site.

Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy this fun event for the entire family.

Gates will open at 6 p.m., the live music will start at approximately 7 p.m. and fireworks will begin at dark.

Community Center groundbreaking July 12

The Wyandotte Nation will break ground on a new Community Center at 9:30 a.m., July 12.

The new Community Center will be located near the housing division just behind the Tribal Administration Building off  Hwy 60 in Wyandotte. Floor plans for the community center include space for a senior center, activity center, kitchen and a saferoom.

A pre-construction conference will be held as well at the Administration Building.
